How to Set Up an Above-Ground Pool the Right Way
A good setup means a pool that stays level, clean and safe all season. Take your time on the base and the rest is easy.
Prepare the ground
- Choose a flat, level spot away from trees and overhead wires.
- Clear stones and sharp debris, then lay a ground cloth to protect the liner.
- A pool on uneven ground will lean and strain the walls — level it properly first.
Assemble and fill
- Follow the frame instructions fully before adding any water.
- Fill slowly, smoothing out liner wrinkles as the water rises.
- Fit and prime the filter pump once it’s full.
Get the water ready
- Run the pump to circulate before anyone swims.
- Keep a skimmer net handy for leaves and insects.
- Cover the pool when it’s not in use to keep debris out.
Level base, careful fill, running pump — that’s the whole trick. Browse our pools and covers to get set up.
